You know, I can't help wondering if there's something peculiar about the air in that cave. First we get Ro-Man molesting a human female, and then, well, look how Gor behaved once he got control of John Agar's hands.

I have. I'm also old enough - just - to remember The Black And White Minstrel Show. So remember people, next time your parents start shaking their heads over the entertainment of *your* generation....

And aside from Hugh and Tony, Blackadder also gave us recurring instances of the rarer female-to-male drag. Dear "Bob"!

I still haven't seen it.
And I don't even have an excuse any more. It's in that giant 50-pack of "Sci-Fi Classics" I got for Xmas a couple years ago.
I want to see it. I have every intention to do so.
And yet I have not done so.

I am full of shame.

After reading Lyz's great review, and rereading Ken's similarly great review, I hereby resolve to watch it this weekend, come hell or high water, and finally cross it off my "to-watch" list.

And if I don't, I'm going to inflict Blood Tide on myself again.
With no fast forward this time.
That'll learn me.

I will always be indebted to Dr. Freex for turning me onto this film. I adore it.

And what with the gore, kung fu and stuntwork, comedy both light and dark (not always successful, I grant you), monster muppets and skeleton puppets, man in a suit (on wires no less), weird sex stuff, giggling antagonist, Chow in a tux (right Lyz?), Chow with a rocket launcher, and (sweet Jeebus) Sau-Lai Tsui popping out of a river in nothing but a cheesecloth shirt, it's got something for everyone! And if you've got the version with the crazy dubbing, that's just the icing on the cake.

Truly a movie to inflict on everyone you know with absolutely no remorse.

I mean, absolutely no reason to feel remorse.
I know we inflict movies on others with no remorse, but that's due to the nature of our sickness. We're like a pack of Sadakos, really.

Actually considering the kicking that Arthur Askey gets in the Ghost Train review, the whole thing is pretty much a sledgehammer to brit comedy of a certain age. Have you ever watched something from your parents or grandparents generation and said to yourself 'this is not even vaguely funny, in fact it's awful.' only to find that it was the most popular comedy for fifteen years. I don;t reckon most of you have ever seen 'It Ain't Half Hot Mum' but if you have, you'll know exactly what I mean.

Personally I'm just thinking of Tony Robinson in drag from that episode - memorably described by Blackadder as 'a badger wrapped in a curtain'.

Hugh Laurie in drag, defintiely funny. I wonder what his 'House' audience would think of all that 80s tomfoolery?

Lyz, I just watched a charming little low budget film called Penetration Angst, one of the three worst films I've ever seen in my entire life. In other words, I think I've already reached insanity.
