Toyol (1981)
It’s not a particularly good movie by any means, but there’s something undeniably creepy about Toyol. And that’s aside from the fact its title monster is the spirit of a dead fetus.
Will Laughlin is the Braineater.

What a fascinating review. Somehow I never thought of it before, but horror movies are a great way to learn about other societies’ less-publicized supernatural beliefs. World-religion surveys tend to leave out stuff like hauntings by dead fetuses…

…and are far the poorer for it, if you’re asking me.

Camassia–That’s one of the best things about Braineater. The movies Will digs up have shown me several mythological critters I’d never heard of, and led me to whole new wonderful areas to learn about.
It’s also given me even more movies to dream about tracking down someday, for which I bitterly curse him. I’m not going to get to them all as it is…
El Santo–No doubt. I should have been learning about flying head ‘n’ guts vampires and magical fetus monsters and burial-shrouded ghosts LONG ago.
Stupid American “educational” system.
