Just minutes ago, I put up the 500th review on The Unknown Movies. I never imagined years (and years) ago when I first started, I would get this far. I wish to thank Chris and Scott, the good folks at Stomp Tokyo, for sponsoring my site. I also wish to thank my fellow B-Masters for letting me join them and for all their support. Anyway, it’s business as usual, though I thought that for a fantastic occasion I would review something to do with the fantastic. That movie is Maxie, a major studio movie with Glenn Close dealing with spirits from the afterlife. As you might have guessed, there’s a good reason why you haven’t heard of this particular major studio movie.

Huzzah! (And I remember that “Lighter Side of” cartoon.)

Yes, indeed – congratulations! I’m rabidly jealous of your fecundity…which is, of course, the highest form of praise, right?
By an odd coincidence, I had this film brought to my attention lately. I’m sorting out old ex-rental tapes with a view to selling off things I have in duplicate, and when I’m checking the print quality I make a game out of fast forwarding through the previews and seeing if I can identify the film before the title comes up. *This* was one of the few that left me mystified – a perfect Unknown Movie!

Oddly enough, and though it pained me to do it, I found myself making a Dave Berg reference myself earlier this week. But I couldn’t remember the name “Roger Kaputnik” to save my life. Thanks for the reminder… I think.
Anyway, congratulations on turning 500! You don’t look a day over 350!
By the way — did you ever read a story by Robert Bloch called “The Movie People”? It’s a sweet-natured fantasy about movies and the Afterlife. After the disappointment of Maxie, it might make a good palate-cleanser.

Congratulations, Keith! Keep it up!
