I haven’t seen it in years, but I recall enjoying it as a light piece of fluff. Not especially memorable, other than Griffith’s presence, but I didn’t regret watching it.

I don’t care so much about the driving dune buggies in deserts part of the post-apoc future, I just hope I don’t have to roller blade around. Not my forte. Hopefully I can get a Landmaster.

I just hope the world isn’t woggos. I’m neggie seeder, and I don’t need no Frauls pushin’ me around.

I’m kind of worried that in the future my country will somehow start looking like arizona, or possibly an australian desert. also I will have to spend my time dressed like someone off gladiators and drive a beach buggy the whole time.

I think the thing with dystopias is probably more to do with the fact that SF is usually about the present, and there’s not much to be gained in critiquing the present by saying “Hey! Everything is great! You will do fine”.

I have not seen this film, but I might.
