The devil made me do it!

a74-eshu2.jpgYou know, I really didn’t intend to follow up my examination of a Turkish Exorcist rip-off with an examination of an American Exorcist rip-off; but there I was, all alone in the house one night with my DVD player, and suddenly this strange force overcame me, and….and….

 Aw, hell.

Yeah, we have this one, Friday Foster, and the beginning of Stripes. I’m proud of that!

Indeed, much to be proud of! It’s not much fun here since we became the bargain-basement tax shelter shooting town. It’s worse than being the “Ooh, just like the postcards!” town, as we used to be.

Yeah, and in a really boring way, too: cheap studio facilities and location shooting that mostly gets CGI-ed out of the finished product. We were doing better a few years back when Hollywood got that Mars fetish, and everyone was doing location work around Broken Hill in lieu of building a fake planet.

I saw Friday Foster not so long ago, but I didn’t realise. You know….I do believe I’ve reached a point where one of the ambitions of my life is to be able to look at a film and say, “Why, unless I’m much mistaken, this was shot in Louisville, Kentucky!”
